ABOUT
Through Yonder Window was SONDERimmersive's first response to the COVID shutdown. The performers never came closer than 6' from one another the entire show. It takes place in a parking garage, and the audience stays in their vehicles the entire time, with the original soundtrack playing through their radios.
Each car is placed in a specific area of Fair Verona. Whether the Church, the Towne Centre, or the Montague or Capulet home, you are privy to those stories. The narrative of the work warps the original Shakespear as well as imagines full stories for the rest of the characters. Romeo is no more a main character than is Lady Capulet.
You feel part of the action as Montague's and Capulets move all around you including next, to, behind, and in very close proximity. Depending on where your vehicle is placed, and which directions you choose to look, different stories become more prominent.
Through Yonder Window was originally presented Summer 2020 by the Utah Arts Alliance in the parking garage at The Gateway; transformed into Fair Verona through extensive set design.
It was then picked up by UtahPresents Spring 2021, performed on a rooftop parking lot in downtown SLC. The design elements were paired down to hand props and the beautiful setting night sky.
Available as an adaptive event for booking, touring, and private events.

TECHNICAL NEEDS
- About 50’ X 100’ of space that can be surrounded by cars. This could include a parking lot or structure, a field, a park, a closed off street or cul de sac, Etc. There are also potential ways to present the work where audience is not exclusively in cars.
- Access to power for sound equipment. One outlet is sufficient. Audience primarily accesses the soundtrack through an FM transmitter which broadcasts to their car speakers.
- Ample Access to the space.
- Indoor bathroom access for the performers.
Capacity
This is flexible depending on the venue but generally about 24 cars, which will surround the performance area.
Length of Show
60 minutes, plus the time it takes to direct cars before and after. We usually do two shows per night.
